The Explorer can show the same folders and items three ways: a grid of cards, each with a picture of the design, a compact list of rows, or a details table you can sort by any column. Recognising a design by its picture is often faster than reading near-identical names; the list packs more onto the screen when you know exactly what you're looking for.
Switching views
Look for the three-button toggle at the top right of any page that lists items: My Work, a folder, a team's library, Recent, Favourites and search results. Click List view for rows, Card view for cards, or Details view for the table. The choice applies at once, to every one of those pages, and is remembered on this device.
Cards are what you get until you choose otherwise. On a phone the Explorer always shows cards and the toggle is hidden; the choice you made on a wider screen comes back when the window is wide enough again. Shared With Me and the Trash keep a fixed list of their own, so they have no toggle.
What each view shows
- Card shows each item as a tile with a snapshot of its first tab, its name, a star if you favourited it, its visibility badge (Shared or Team) and when it was last updated, with its ⋯ menu. Folders appear as cards in the same grid, and a folder card previews what is inside it: a small mosaic of up to four tiles, the items it holds first, then its subfolders, with a +N tile when there is more. An empty folder keeps the plain folder glyph.
- List packs the same details into compact rows, each with the item's picture or icon, and its ⋯ menu at the end.
- Details lays everything out as a table, much like the details pane of a desktop file manager.
With All Apps chosen at the top of the page, each item also names the app it comes from.
The details view
The table has a column for each of:
- Name: open an item or folder from it. Rest the pointer on a design's row for a moment and a preview of it appears beside it.
- Type: the kind of thing it is, such as Design or Canvas, or a folder.
- Comments: how many comments it holds.
- Access: what you may do with it.
- Size: how much it holds.
- Created and Updated: the date and time.
Press any column heading to sort by it; press it again to reverse. Folders always stay above items, and the sort is remembered on this device, like the view. A sort orders what has loaded so far. Narrow windows keep fewer columns.
You can drag any of your own or your team's designs onto a folder, in any of the three views or in the sidebar, to move it there.
Long lists
Lists load a page at a time as you scroll towards the end, so a large library opens quickly.
